La Chamba Pie Dish
Hand-crafted black clay La Chamba cookware from La Chamba, Colombia.
Safe to use on the stove, in the oven, in the microwave and under the grill. All pieces can be used over direct gas, on the barbeque and even on an open fire. Wooden utensils are recommended to prevent scratching.
There are no toxins in the La Chamba because no glazes are used (the pieces are hand-burnished) and there is no lead in the clay.

Care is easy: a quick soak and wipe down with a sponge is all that is needed.
Prior to first use:
La Chamba items should be thoroughly cleaned with mild detergent to remove any residue that may be present from the firing process. Each piece is then filled ¾ full with water and placed in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 30mins. This process allows La Chamba items to seal. A complete seal is sometimes achieved only after items have been used several times for cooking.
